Who pays for Debt Counselling?
When you apply for Debt Review/ Debt Counselling, you pay the Debt Counsellor an application fee of R50. If you do not have a recent copy of your Credit Bureau Report, we can obtain this for you at a cost of R20, which is the amount we pay for it. These are the only amounts, which you would pay directly to us, and which comes out of your cash flow.

After the payment proposal has been sent to your creditors and they have accepted it, you will pay one amount each month to the Payment Distribution Agency (PDA). This amount will be the total of your new monthly repayments. From this amount, the Debt Counsellor will be paid his/her fee in the first month. Legal costs will be paid in the second month, also from this amount. Creditors will then receive their instalments after the Debt Counsellor’s fees and the legal costs have been paid. You do not have to pay an additional amount for the debt restructuring fee from your cash flow.

The fee amount has been determined by the Debt Counsellors Association of South Africa (DCASA) and the NCR.
